The tower that overlooks Huercal Overa and which has become a symbol of the town is to be restored. The money for its restoration is to come principally from a fund set aside by Spain's Ministry of FOMENTO, this fund comprises one per cent of the ministry's total budget and is dedicated to the restoration of Spain's historical heritage. The ministry is to provide 75% of the cost of the works, almost 480,000 euros, with the other 160,000 coming from the Junta de Andalucia Ministry of Culture. Once the restoration works are completed then work can begin on converting it into a museum.
