The Ola Festival, to be held in Playa de las Guardias Viejas in El Ejido on the weekend starting August 15th, has finalised its line up for the weekend. Ola Festival has become an essential part of any festival goer's summer calendar and its mix of established independent bands and groups just emerging onto the scene make it a great way to finish the summer festival circuit here in Spain.
The headline act this year is BJork, the Icelandic Diva, who has succeeded in reinventing herself and her style without ever losing a unique identity that has won her millions of fans as solo artist since she left The Sugarcubes to go it alone in 1993. Her new album – Volta, released last year, was, for some, a return to the fun loving Bjork of 'Violently Happy', and with Timbaland contributing to three of the tracks there should be something for almost everyone. Other big names to visit El Ejido in the middle of the month include Massive Attack, trip hop standard bearers, and Goldfrapp, who have surprised all with their latest release, Seventh Tree, described by Allison Goldfrapp as a surreal folk album. Another must see have to be Kula Shaker, making a comeback ten years after their debut album with a new album last year, acclaimed by critics and public alike. Other acts include; Editors, 2manydjs & Soulwax, MGMT, St Etienne, Cut Copy and Starsailor.
The festival has a new campsite area and there is also the new Festibono, a pack for anyone wanting to attend Ola Festiaval as well as Creamfields the previous weekend with a special reduced price which includes entry to both festivals and ten nights in the campsite.
